Mar. 03, 2011 - Depart on an overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Mar. 04, 2011 - Arrival/pickup from airport and check into your hotel. Day at leisure. Your VIP Host will pick you up at 11:00 PM and take you to one of Rio’s Hottest Clubs.
Mar. 05, 2011 – Day of Leisure to relax in the pool or beach. There are several events going on this day. You can choose to go to the Street Band Cordao de Bola Preta parade in downtown (Starts at 9:30am) or sleep in and catch the Banda de Ipanema parade which starts at around 4pm in Ipanema. Your VIP Host will pick you up at 11:00 PM and take you to one of Rio’s Hottest Clubs.
Mar. 06, 2011 – You will be picked up for your ½ day city tour to check out the Christ Statue at 2:00pm. The Official Samba Parade starts on this night. Night of Leisure or You have the option to purchase your tickets via us. Transfers & Tickets are included. The opening ceremony starts at 8:00pm & the parade starts at 9:00pm.
Mar. 07, 2011 – Day at Leisure or you can choose one of our optional excursions like Hang Gliding or visiting Sugar Loaf Mountain. Tonight is another night of the samba parade. It follows the same schedule as the night before. You can also choose to go to the Scala Beer Party, which includes All-U-Can Drink beer and beats from one of Rio’s hottest DJ’s – DJ Marcinho.

Rio de Janeiro Carnival is called the greatest show on earth. It's orgins are said to come from Europe, where Carnival festivities comprised mostly of balls & masquerade parties. The modern day Brazilian Carnival has evolved to include Native American and African culture in its celebration. Rio de Janeiro Carnival is a wild 4-day celebration. Year after year it starts on Saturday and ends on Fat Tuesday. It normally takes place in February, which is right in the middle of Summer and Brazil's hottest month. For Brazilians, Carnival is a celebration to let loose and release their inhibitions before Ash Wednesday. Rio Carnival mainly consists of the Samba Parade, Scala Balls, & Street Parties.

The Greatest Show on Earth, The Samba Parade – This two-day extravaganza is considered by many the greatest show on earth. Lasting a total of 20 hours, with about seventy thousand participants, twice as many people in the audience, plus millions of spectators watching the event on TV all around the world.
The Samba Schools – The Samba Parade is actually a competition of Samba Schools from Rio de Janeiro. Each Samba School represents a local neighborhood. It's a huge production as samba schools have to mobilize thousands of participants, create a theme & songs, design and create the costumes & floats and choreograph the production. There are over 70 samba schools in Rio, but only the top 12 participate on the Sunday & Monday of Carnival. Some of the top samba schools that you can research before your trip are Beija Flor, Mangueira & Salgueiro.
The Music, Samba - If there is a musical style that is associated with feelings of happiness than it is without doubt Samba. Samba developed as a distinctive kind of music at the beginning of the 20th century in Rio de Janeiro (then the capital of Brazil) under the strong influence of immigrant black people from Bahia. Carnival Balls - Carnival Balls are themed parties that take place every night during Carnival. A true Carnival Ball features live Samba music. Tickets to these balls range from $US 40 to over US$ 2,000. The best nights are Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. It is definitely important to choose the correct Ball as there is a huge variety that include Gala Balls and Balls for Singles and Gays. The most famous and expensive ball is held at the Copacabana Palace Hotel. TGW can provide you with tickets to all of Rio's Carnival Balls.
Street Parties & Bands - Street parties are totally free and take place all over Rio de Janeiro from Saturday to Tuesday. Departing from the hotel, the tour heads for the center of the city, to view some outstanding spots, including the modern Cathedral and the Lapa Arches. The tour proceeds to the Urca picturesque neighborhood, to take a cable car the top of Urca Hill (224m), and then a second one to the top of the famous Pão de Açucar-Sugar Loaf (395m). Round-trip tickets for both cable cars are included. From the mountain top, visitors have one hour time to enjoy the magnificent view over the centerof Rio , and Copacabana Beach.

After picking you up at your hotel, the tour will continue to the Cosme Velho station to catch the cog train (tickets are inlcuded) for a journey through the dense Atlantic Rain Forest of Tijuca, to the Christ Statue on Corcovado mountain. The guide has between 40 and 60 minutes to you show the wonderful sights of Rio before the return journey by train to the coach. The tour continues to São Conrado and Pepino Beach where the hand-gliders land and, by noon, the passengers are returned to their respective hotels.

Soccer Game at Maracana Stadium Type: Adventure Price: $59.00 Minimum: 1 person
You don't need to be a soccer/football fanatic to enjoy a game at Maracana. This is the largest soccer stadium in the world that was built for the 1950 World Cup. The Town of Angra dos Reis lies in the heart of an archipelago with more than 300 islands and countless beaches, about 130 Km south of Rio . An air-conditioned vehicle takes the Rio -Santos highway along the Costa Ver de (Green Coast). A schooner waits at the dock to take the visitors on a regular cruise around several islands, stopping for a swim in the enticing turquoise-blue waters. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or expert, Rio offers you some great places to catch waves. Ipanema & Barra de Tijuca offer surfers waves from 3 to 10 feet. Lessons are from Tuesdays to Sundays and operate in the morning and afternoon. The lesson includes transportation to/from hotel, equipment, & 1.5 Hour Lesson
Canopy Adventure Tour Type: Adventure Price: $90.00 Minimum: 2 people
The Canopy Adventure Tour is one of the coolest eco-adventures we offer. The tour takes place in prepared tree top circuit, at an average height of 10 to 15 meters. You will be moving a top the trees using a simple rope ladder or more complicated tools like bridges, crampons, winches, pulleys and nets. You can choose to do a whole circuit (45 min. to 2 hrs.) on your own time and rhythm. Safety equipment includes helmets, gloves, boots, cradles, cables (bearing 2 – 3,000 k.), steel hooks and spools – some / all of which are used over the course. A brief training session and transportation to/from your hotel is also included in the tour.
Rocinha Favela Jeep Tour Type: Must See Price: $59.00 Minimum: 1 person
In this tour, you visit the Rocinha slum, the largest slum in South America with around 150 thousand inhabitants, where you can watch the routine of this community, visiting local houses, day nurseries and schools. Twenty percent of Rio's population lives in Favelas. You may already have the misconception of favelas as crime-ridden neighborhoods, but this tour will open your mind as far as the developments that are happening in these communities. Sugar Loaf (Pão de Açúcar) is arguably the most famous landmark in Rio and all of Brazil. This huge slab of granite rock rises 396 metres above the Guanabara Bay and provides excellent views of Rio and the surrounding areas.Instead of riding the cable car with the other tourists, here is your chance to hike and rock climb to the top. The trek starts off with an easy 30 minute walk along a pedestrian pathway with great views overlooking praia vermelha. We then hike and scramble up the side of the mountain enjoying great views of the bay. Before reaching the top we will rock climb a 25-30 metre section, which is then followed by more hiking

It's also a good way for the Brazilian friends you meet on the trip to contact you while in Rio de Janeiro. Cell phone includes the cell phone, charger, & all incoming calls free. You will need to purchase a phone card to add minutes to your phone while in Brazil for your outgoing calls.
