The Facts
|
Looking out over the Iguazu Falls is an awe-inspiring experience that will take your breath away. The natural wonders of the falls and the wildlife of the surrounding jungle is one of the most incredible views you'll ever see and are preserved by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites.
Nestled between the Argentinean and Brazilian borders (and a stone's throw from Paraguay), the Iguazú Falls joins the elite of the world most spectacular waterfalls. It is much larger than Niagra Falls (taller & twice as wide) and falls second to South Africa's Victoria Falls although Iguazu is wider.
The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along 2.7 kilometers (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 269 ft in height, though the majority are about 210 ft. The Devil's Throat, a 490 by 2300 ft. cliff, is the most impressive of all, and marks the border between Argentina and Brazil. As far as which view is better, The Argentine side has the best and most varied up-close views of Iguazu Falls while the Brazilian side has the spectacular panoramic view. TGW's advice: You must see both.
Requirements: To visit the Brazilian side of Iguazu, you will need to have a Brazilian Visa. If you are coming from Buenos Aires and do not have a Visa, we can provide you with the hotel and tours on the Argentine side.

Why Should You Go To Iguazu Falls?
|
- Iguazu Falls Ranks 9 Among the World's Top Wonders - It stretches along a 3 kilometer (nearly 2 mile) long rim that is shared by Argentina and Brazil. Anyone will be amazed watching it thunderously plunge the height of a 24-story building into the Iguazu gorge below.Iguazu Falls (which ranks 9 among the world's top wonders) is rivaled in mightiness only by Victoria Falls in Africa (ranks 15). The world's other two gold medal winning falls are Angel Falls (ranks 79) and Niagara Falls (88).
- Proximity to Rio de Janeiro & Buenos Aires - If you are already in Rio de Janeiro or Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls is only a 2 hour flight away from those cities. As far as which side is better, The Argentine side has the best and most varied up-close views of Iguazu Falls while the Brazilian side has the spectacular panoramic view. Our best advice: See both.
- Devil's Throat - Best seen from the Brazilian side is the spectacular Devil's Throat, garganta del diablo, where fourteen falls drop 350 feet with such force that there is always a 100 foot cloud of spray overhead.
- Eco-Tourism - If you are a fan of eco-tourism, Iguazu is a great place to go. This breathtaking natural wonder will keep you hiking, rafting, touring, and snapping photos, from start to finish.
