Buenos Aires is a sophisticated city with very beautiful people who care very much about appearances and their “image” while they are out “on the town” . Being a gringo who has the hookups at the club and a couple bottles of Johnny Walker will certainly come in handy and leave girls wondering who you are and why you are in the VIP section.
- BE PERSISTENT YET TACTFUL: Girls in Buenos Aires are among the most beautiful in the world. Logically, they are also among the most approached by local men at bars and have some degree of a protective “shell”. In addition to this, Argentines socialize in circles at clubs where many people know each other and girls do not want to seem “easy” in front of their friends (yet many of them would love to speak to an “exotic” foreigner outside their circle). For this reason you need to be persistent and keep up a conversation even though you are not given the warmest of reception at first. Talk for a while, buy them a drink, be funny..break the ice. If she doesn't seem to dig you, move on and do not take it personally!
- HAVE A GREAT TIME! You are on vacation and you are in one of the most exotic places on earth. Get crazy and have a good time. Girls are more attracted to guys who are capable of having a good time with or without them. So, make the party, and they will come.
- ALWAYS IMPRESS - Argentines have a very strong European heritage (especially Italian). You will see this all over the city in its architecture and fancy boutiques. There is no bigger turn off than the “ignorant American.” Knowing about soccer and local teams is a huge PLUS!!! Another tip, unless you want to go home alone and make zero friends on your trip....never discuss politics/Bush/Iraq etc etc!
- BRUSH UP ON YOUR SPANISH: English is widely spoken among Buenos Aires ' upper crust and you will not run into any problems communicating. That doesn't mean, however that you should roll up to girls and assume they can understand your slang and perfect English! (this is actually seen as very arrogant and a big “no-no”.) You do not have to speak Spanish fluently, but it would be a good idea to know some general words and phrases. Trying to pronounce witty phrases in jumbled Spanish will almost always earn you “brownie points” and make your Argentine cutie laugh.
- MAKE FRIENDS: As we have mentioned, Argentines hang out in intricate social circles. Talk and m ake friends any opportunity you have! (guys included!) Make friends with them, talk to them about other girls or soccer/American sports. Bonding with guys will certainly get you very far as they will introduce you to their cute friends!!
